Taking part in “Extension Demos: In Touch with developers” was a special moment for me, both as a Joomla developer and as the founder of Joomla!LABS. It was an opportunity to share ideas, tools, and real development experience with the renewed Italian Joomla community.
A special community moment
Extension Demos: In Touch with developers is a community meetup focused on Joomla extension development, practical demos, and direct exchange between developers and professionals working in the Joomla ecosystem. The event was organized by JUG Italia, the Joomla! User Group Italia, and held online on Zoom with translation support available for subtitles.
I am genuinely proud to have been the first speaker of this event series, opening a cycle that brings extension developers closer to the Joomla community through live demos, technical insights, and direct discussion.

What is a JUG?
A JUG, or Joomla User Group, is a local or national community space where Joomla users, developers, integrators, and enthusiasts meet to share knowledge, organize events, support each other, and stay connected with the wider Joomla project. In practice, a JUG helps turn an open source CMS into a living community through conversations, learning, and collaboration.
The rebirth of JUG Italia
JUG Italia is the portal and meeting point of the renewed Italian Joomla community, created to reconnect Italian users and professionals around shared initiatives, events, and participation in the global Joomla ecosystem. For me, being invited to speak in one of its first flagship events made the experience even more meaningful.
My talk
During the session, I shared the story of how Joomla!LABS was born: the idea of building practical, modern, open source tools for Joomla developers with a strong focus on usability, real workflows, and community value.
The presentation was not just about features. It was about the motivation behind the project, the development philosophy, and the kind of developer experience I want Joomla!LABS extensions to support every day.
What I presented
- How Joomla!LABS started
- Its development vision
- Real demos of two extensions
- Ideas for improving Joomla workflows
The two featured extensions
The session included the presentation of two Joomla!LABS extensions that represent two different but complementary goals: improving installation workflows and improving frontend visual presentation.
Why it mattered to me
Being part of this event was not only a chance to present software. It was also a chance to give something back to the Joomla community through transparency, practical examples, and direct dialogue with other developers and users.
A strong start
Starting the series as its first speaker was something I felt deeply honored by. It gave me the chance to contribute to the launch of a new format that can grow into a valuable reference point for the Italian Joomla extension ecosystem.

The full session recording is available below. The video is in Italian, but it is a useful reference if you want to see the original presentation, the extension demos, and the context in which Joomla!LABS was introduced.
